Louisianan Purchase was the biggest purchase ever during Thomas Jefferson presidency. The Louisiana Purchase was about 827,987 square mile (2,144,476 square kilometer) of land that was purchased from France for about $15 millions dollars. It had started all the way from The Mississippi River tot he Rocky Mountains.(The top of the Canadian Boarder all the way to the Gulf of Mexico) By buying this big piece of land had increased the economic resources.
When Thomas Jefferson was president during 1803, the Mississippi River had made up the western boundary. Farmers who lived west of the Appalachian Mountains had to ship there goods down a river by that flowed into the Gulf of Mexico.
At the same month period of Thomas Jefferson presidency ,the minster of United Kingdom had heard that Spain was going to buy The Louisiana Purchase. When Jefferson had found out he feared that France would interfere with there trading systems.
After all the trouble had went away, United States had finally bought the land for $15 million.
